How your business becomes a coloring page
See how your ideas become artwork for the printed book, from choosing a direction to approving your page.

Your business does not need to arrive with a finished design. A storefront, a product, a familiar service or a playful idea can become a page that families color.
Hometown Coloring Book makes free printed books featuring local businesses and places. Local businesses fund the books through paid placements, which include custom artwork and unlimited revisions. Choose Holland, Zeeland, West Ottawa or a combination of editions.
There is more than one way to show a business
The page can help a child recognize a place, enjoy something the business makes, or imagine a story connected to it. Here are three public samples showing different approaches.

These are examples of the page format and creative possibilities. Your placement gets its own artwork. A business appearing in the free digital library does not, by itself, mean it has sponsored a printed edition.
Choose where your page will appear
Start by selecting the districts that fit your business, then choose an interior or cover placement. The district and placement selector shows the current options and prices before payment. You can use the same artwork across districts or make a different page for each.
Think about where your customers live and travel. A business serving one neighborhood may choose differently from one that regularly welcomes families from all three districts. The edition is a way to choose your local audience; it is not a guarantee that every household will receive a book.
Share a starting point
After ordering, use your customer page to add your ideas and reference files. Helpful material can include:
- Your business name, logo and the details you want people to recognize.
- Photos of a storefront, product, workspace or other important feature.
- A short description of what you would enjoy seeing in the scene.
- The offer, contact details or QR destination you want associated with the placement.
You can begin with just your business name. If you already have a clear idea, explain what matters about it. If you would rather leave the creative direction to us, that works too. If you already have a finished page, send it from your customer page instead and approve it there.
Review the artwork and shape the result
The current artwork process starts with six concepts to review. Open the options to see them more closely, then choose a direction that suits your business.
If an option is close, request an edit to that exact option and explain the change. If you want a different idea, request a new direction. You can add further reference material as the page develops. Custom artwork and unlimited revisions are included in the sponsorship offer.
Useful feedback is specific: “keep the storefront, but make the sign easier to recognize” or “show our product instead of the building.” You do not have to write an art brief. Tell us what should stay and what should change.
Approve the exact artwork
Before approving, check the business name, spelling, recognizable details and any offer or contact information. If the page includes a QR code, check its destination too. Approval applies to the artwork you choose for the placement.
Once the approved page moves into print production, changes are subject to the production stage. Ask a question through your customer page if you are unsure about a detail before approval.
Help put the books in local hands
Families will be able to pick up free books through participating local locations. You can also request books to give away at your own business. Stocking is free and does not require a sponsorship purchase.
The current purchase deadline is November 18, 2026, with distribution planned for early December. The printed edition has its own artwork; the free digital library is a separate collection families can print at home.
